Poor “DOVE of NOAH”

Posted: September 16, 2008 in Uncategorized

YEP, I’m married to a hunter. Korporate Karl is a REAL hunter.

AND now with my bonus-son, Kyle, living with us – I have TWO of them!

I am not a hunter – probably never will be….but when I saw this picture, all I could think of is that this is the SAME bird that GOD gave to Noah…. bringing back the branch… AWWWWWWW… (say it with me) – There is just something sacred about that – (in my mind, anyway)…

Now I know that THIS HUNTER, and THIS HUNTER, and THIS HUNTER will look at this picture IN AWE…. (LOSERS!)

Doves stand for peace….

I guess they have peace now.

Look at my two boys faces….. I am pretty proud of them!

Here’s a good subject…. WHAT DO YOU THINK GOD THINKS ABOUT HUNTING ?

Ha – I have an avid hunter in my house too…and I have a feeling three more on the way. This is Isaiah’s first season to hunt and he is so excited I am unsure how he will sit still to watch for a deer or turkey! I am not a hunter at all…this is new territory for me. However, I can totally see the ‘man has dominion over animal’ thing and how God uses a deer to provide food…still, I just don’t want to be the one killing or gutting the thing!

None of us are hunters, but have nothing against it in the grand scheme of things, although I think hunting to torture is wrong. Around here, deer are such a problem and they are so overly populated that hunting helps us and them (the’ll run out of food).
That having been said, when a friend gave us some homemade jerky and I found out it was deer jerky, I couldn’t eat it. I just kept seeing poor Bambi in my head.

  3. Im an avid hunter, not as much for the hunt, but for the experience of being outside,in God’s creation. I dont shoot anything I dont eat/isnt a nuisance, and I have VERY strong ethics when it comes to the ways I go about hunting. Eating a steak at Longhorn is no diffrent than eating a venison burger at my house. I just know I killed the animal ethicly, and that it didnt have 6 legs :D

P.S.That looks like WAY more than there limit :D

I think God feels that every hunter needs an American Fox Hound and I know where you could get one. She’s one year old and very pretty. She needs to get out and hunt and not live in our back yard anymore. So you really should take her off my hands and use her for what God created her for (Hunting).

I’m a hunter… but I do my hunting in the grocery store. :) I like my meat in little packages with saran wrap on them!

My husband “hunts,” and I’m sure my son will as well. My husband never gets anything… perhaps because he is legally blind and won’t shoot without visual confirmation. Poor guy. :)

  6. Derek Murphy says:

I am with J-wo. I only hunt for what I am going to eat. I practice hunting ethics and conservation. If it were not for me, and Woodard, and Karl, and the other hunters, all cars would have brushguard bumpers instead of platic. Diease would be rampant because of the amount of bird mud all over everything.

I love hunting and fishing. My closest time alone with God is in a stand, or stream, or duck blind. God tells you all you will ever need to know about hunting in the first few chapters of Genesis.

As for the photo, KARL, congrats on finding a great hunt. I would be a “jealous loser”, as OCD calls us, if these birds were all you and Kyle. But again, I know better. As J-Wo said, you might not want to share this with TWRA. That is a pretty steep fine. And that is not even your truck!

Congrats on a good hunt boys!!

  7. [...] out to a few more of my CP hunting bretheren, Karl and Kyle, A.K.A Mr.OCD-ism and Jr.OCD-ism.  Check out the story of the branch here: Deb, you crack me [...]

  8. @blind&stream…. YOU crack me UP!!! Along w/JWO

  9. Hi Debbie,
My name is Debbie (Deborah) also and my husband’s name is Carl and he hunts as does my oldest son Steven, and I am also a Chritian and love the Lord with all my heart.
I think that in regards to hunting, the Lord gave us “dominion over all the animals for our use in food and clothing”. That pretty much puts in all in God’s order.
Yes, of course, killing is involved and the shedding of blood……..hmmmmmmm…sound familiar?

Check out my blog, I am a missionary to Haiti.
    God bless,
    Deb
